Gum Shields (Mouthguards)
Gum shields are highly recommended to protect the upper from teeth from trauma.
There are two groups of high risk of individuals who may be susceptible to dental trauma:
- Patients partaking in contact sports (eg football, rugby, hockey)
- Patients with protruding upper front teeth
A custom fitted mouthguard is a safe, cost-effective way to protect the teeth. This is the ‘gold standard’ of mouthguards.
